History

Used by doctors in antiquity against cramp, sciatica, snake and scorpion bites. Monks brought it to the North, where it was also used against coughing, worms and eye infection.

The plant gained a prominent position among magic herbs. Its aroma was believed to keep the devil away. It was, therefore, also used as incense in churches.
