History
Originally a native of the Asiatic deserts. In antiquityin Asia Minor houselek was planted on rooftops as a protection against lightning, and the custom spread, via Greece and Rome, to all of Europe. In medieval medicine the plant’s sap was used as a remedy for burns, shingles and as a drop for earache.
